These are the objectives concerning the regeneration of 36 Sicilian villages through 25 projects financed in Sicily, thanks to NRRP funds, relating to the "Attractiveness of Villages" Investment, for a total of about 44 million euros.

The first of the projects to start will be the "Ustum cultural programme", on the island of Ustica, then the ecomuseum routes of Buscemi's project and, after almost 60 years, ancient Poggioreale also reopens, with the securing of the road axis that will lead to the ancient Piazza Elimo, the chosen venue for the organization of participatory art events.

In the enhancement paths, space will also be given to augmented reality that will allow you to admire the monuments in a new dimension, superimposing historical reconstructions on the real landscape. An innovative way to revive the memory of places

The redevelopment of the villages was conceived to renovate historic buildings, museums and other cultural places, with the intention of also improving public spaces. Plans include the renovation of squares, streets and parks, along with the creation of spaces for events, exhibitions and festivals. Another crucial aspect concerns sustainable tourism, which involves the development of tourist itineraries and the creation of information points to improve reception services, also creating scattered hotels. At the same time, there will be a strengthening of the social fabric through the creation of aggregation centers and coworking spaces, thus encouraging social participation.

These ambitious goals are supported by an investment of around €44 million. Line B of the M1C3 investment  of the NRRP is specifically dedicated to cultural and social regeneration projects in historic villages with less than 5,000 inhabitants. This approach aims to revitalize less populated areas, making them attractive to residents and investors, counteracting depopulation and spurring economic development.
