The project mobilizes 6 European partners - tourism organizations, cultural associations, training institutions - in 4 European port cities: Bastia (Corsica, France), Split (Croatia), Piraeus (Greece) and Catania (Sicily, Italy). HHST aims to develop a tourist and social approach for the enhancement of the port heritage, strengthening the capacities of professionals and volunteers who contribute to port activity: entrepreneurs, fishermen, traders, tourist offices and guides, heritage development associations, residents, with the aim of making all these actors "ambassadors of the heritage of their ports"
The HHST project has developed:
- a participatory method for the appropriation and tourist development of this "hidden" heritage,
- a training framework for stakeholders based on the strengthening of knowledge on heritage, the transmission of contributions on heritage interpretation, the development of communication and mediation techniques applied to port heritage,
- an e-learning platform
- an application of these training methods and contents through the creation of 4 cultural tourism itineraries aimed at discovering the port heritage in the 4 partner cities
